Funds raised will go to purchase Five Monitoring Systems for the Hospital’s 2nd Floor
2013 Gala Chairs......Arvis and Sheila Tanton
Wednesday, September 12, 2012, Front of Memorial Hospital – The 2013 Lights of Life Gala chairs, Arvis and Sheila Tanton and the gala will pose on the red carpet in front of Dr. White’s 1936 restored Buick and Dr. White himself will be standing in as the chauffer as the stage is set for the traditional committee picture that will be taken in front of the hospital at 6p.m. Wednesday, September 12th .
The committee has been working hard since May planning another memorable gala and with the great theme of “Vintage Hollywood, Putting on the Ritz”; the gala is already on the way to being SOLD OUT. On Tuesday, September 11th at the monthly committee meeting, Arvis and Sheila announced with excitement to the committee that because of their hard work so far over $130,000 in sponsorships have already been confirmed.

“We are blessed every year to have extremely strong community leaders to serve as gala chairs. With Arvis and Sheila Tanton leading the way we are again on track to sell out the event, to reach our aggressive $175,000 goal which allows us to present the $81,000 requested to the hospital for their use to purchase the Phillips Monitoring System and to add additional funds to the Foundation Leaving a Legacy campaign” states Jackie Thornton, Foundation Director. “We are humbled every year by the support we receive from the community. I believe they show their appreciation of our hospital, that takes care of their medical needs, by continuing to support the hospital through their contributions to the Foundation and the Lights of Life campaign. We are truly grateful for their continued support”, continued Thornton.
The monitoring system will be installed in five of the patient rooms on the second floor of the hospital and would allow for continuous heart rhythm monitoring of patients. The monitors will be integrated with the ICU central monitoring station where a qualified EKG technician is located. Creating a designated area for cardiovascular and observation of patients will allow unlimited visitation to the patient and will allow their

family members to stay the night because they will not need to remain in ICU care. This is another valuable service that the Foundation can provide to the hospital, the community and future heart patients.
This past year's Gala Chairs, Mickie and Barbara McKenzie, were presented with a Memory Book of
photos, depicting their year at the helm of the gala, by Jackie Thornton.
“With the Vintage Hollywood, Putting on the Ritz theme for the 2013 Gala the guests will be encouraged to dress in their best Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers attire. We think this will add another fun element to the gala that already provides a “fine dining” experience catered by Eddie Deen, dancing the night away again to the great music of the “ROTEL and the HOT TOMATOES” band and unbelievable live and silent auction items that will be offered” said campaign chair, Arvis Tanton.
If you cannot attend the gala but still want to support the campaign , you can donate to the Lights of Life Christmas tree lighting event. A $25 donation given in “memory or honor” of someone special is represented by a light on the Lights of Life Christmas tree that will light up The Gardens at Memorial on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 6 p.m.
Additionally, the Foundation will be offering their 2nd Annual Community Calendar at the Lights of Life Campaign kick-off planned for Tuesday, November 1st at 10a.m. in the hospital lobby.
Join us as we strive to make a difference for the community through your support of the 2012-2013 Lights of Life Campaign and Gala. For more information call the Health Care Foundation at 903-438-4799.
