at Junior Market Show

The Hopkins County Junior Market Show was held February 25-27, 2010 at the Regional Civic Center.  Over the next few weeks I will be introducing you to some of our top 4-H exhibitors who excelled at this year’s show.  This week I would like you to meet Brynden Andrews, Grand Champion Steer and Reserve Champion Beef Heifer winner.   Brynden is nine years old and in his second year of 4-H.  He is a member of the Stars of Texas 4-H Club which meets in Sulphur Springs.  I asked Brynden during an interview the following questions and here are his answers.

What were the names of your steer and heifer?  Smoke and Sierra

What did you learn from participating in the beef project this year?  I learned it takes a lot of time to take care of more than one animal.  I also learned how to use my show stick better.

What was your favorite part of your project this year?  Shopping for my new steer.  It’s fun to pick out a baby.

What will you do with the money you received from selling your steer?  I will use it to buy feed for my new steer, Gator.  I will also have to buy more equipment, another fan and a blower.

Brynden is in the 4th grade at Como-Pickton School.  He is very active in Choir and his youth group at First Bapbtist Church of Sulphur Springs.  Brynden’s goal is to attend Texas A&M to become a veterinarian like his Papa (grandfather).   Hopkins County wishes you both the best! Congratulations!
