SSHS Will Conduct
NTHS Induction Ceremonies, Tonight
From Brenda McKinzie, Sponsor
"It's not a new honor society, but just new at SSHS," expressed sponsor, Brenda McKinzie, as she explained about the Monday night NTHS Induction Ceremonies, schedule at Sulphur Springs High School. "The organization has been around since 1984, but we've just decided to form the Geral Kennedy Chapter at SSHS."
National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an honor society for those students who excel in vocational and technical courses, develop high grade standards, and demonstrate developing outstanding leadership qualities.

The Sulphur Springs High School chapter is named for longtime SSHS educator, Mr. Geral Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was the first Vocational Director at Sulphur Springs High School. He began his tenure at Sulphur Springs High School in the 1966-67 term. He was the person responsible for beginning the programs for Machine Shop, VOE (Vocational Office Education), DE (Marketing and Distributive Education), ICT (Industrial Cooperative Training), and VEH (Vocational Education for the Handicapped). As a former Agricultural teacher, he was very supportive of both FFA and FHA. Through his dedication our Vocational Program now called Career Technical Education departments have grown and added courses that have helped many students become successful citizens in life. Mr. Kennedy retired from Sulphur Springs ISD in 1985 after 37 years (19 with SSISD and 18 in Lamar County) of service to public education.
To receive the honor of being inducted into the New Geral Kennedy Chapter, on Monday night, at 7:00 p.m., in the SSHS Cafeteria, are: Jessica Boyd, Alexandria Chancellor, Taja Evans, Jarius Grant, Rebecca Halter, Haylee Hooks, Jennifer Johnson, Kiara Johnson, Macy Johnston, Kaitlin Maddox, Gino Medino, Devin Mitchell, Morgan Owens, Urviben Patel, Sydney Peterson, and Magan Smith.
Congratulations, NTHS Inductees!!!
