Members of AARP participated in the Annual "AARP Day of Service" on Thursday, May 17th. After Boys and Girls Club Director, Ayana Pryor, spoke at a recent AARP Meeting, members decided that the Boys and Girls Club would be a wonderful place to "Serve". AARP Members met with the After School kids, read to them and gave them cookies and punch. The older kids got a special treat from retired teacher, Betty Holden. Betty told them one of her many exciting stories. The kids listened and them told some stories of their own. AARP Participants were: Pat Mallory, Betty Holden, Nell Shipp, Patsy Yates, Glenna Durr, Karon Weatherman, W.G. White, Nan Bell, Virginia Tanton and John Hadley.

Carriage House Manor heard that the Boys and Girls Club were in need of some financial help with their Summer Program. And made a $ 1,000.00 Donation. Many students can not afford to pay for the Summer Program and this money will help the Boys and Girls Club offset the costs. Director Ayana Pryor said, "The Summer Program will be all about Fitness and Healthy Living. We want to teach the kids how to eat right and get plenty of excercise." They will need additional funds and volunteers to support their efforts.
