Reports Abandoned Animals

The Hopkins County Sheriffs Department reports that they have five animals, four horses and one cow that have been picked-up as abandoned animals in the last three weeks. The animals include four horses....a Palomino filly, a Palomino stud colt; a paint gelding, and a sorrel gelding. The four horses were picked up in the Caney Community of Hwy-269 South, near the Caney Church, last week.


Additionally, a black Angus cow, approximately 5 or 6 years old was picked up on the roadway on Hwy-71 in Northern Hopkins County.

The animals were picked-up as abandoned animals by Sheriffs Department Animal Control Officer Ricky Rivera and can be claimed by calling the Sheriffs Office at (903)438-4040. If the animals are not claimed, they will be sold at public auction.
