NETBIO Sale Grosses by: Bobby McDonald Local beef cattle producers harvested almost three million dollars in the May 25th NETBIO Sale, conducted at Sulphur Springs Livestock and Dairy Auction. Some thirty buyers representing major beef cattle outlets traveled to Sulphur Springs on Wednesday and purchased a total of 4200 head, that averaged 627 pounds each. The cattle represented 120 individual beef producers in the Sulphur Springs and Northeast Texas region, and total proceeds grossed $2,933,937. The NETBIO organization was organized by local beef cattle producers to market and improve the quality of beef calves in this area. The group has successfully attracted buyers to the region and through group marketing, increased the value of their cattle. Cattle in the sale are pre-conditioned and vaccinated so that they are ready for the feedlot and upon delivery to Sulphur Springs Livestock, the animals are sorted according to weight, uniformity, and size.
Buyers at the NETBIO sales have grown to know that the cattle will meet their demands and that the pre-conditioning efforts of the producers are done according to guidelines. The buyers like the uniform lots that are offered and can be trucked to their facilities, ready to feed.
An added advantage of the NETBIO sale is the replacement heifer segment of the sales. This section is designed for buyers to purchase replacement heifers for their operations, but also is an added advantage for the local beef cattle producers, who have a premium outlet for their female offspring.
Quality, uniform lots of beef cattle have become a trademark For the first time, the May 25th sale was featured "live" on the internet. This feature is just another added marketing tool that will allow buyers view cattle and make bids from their own "easy chair," around the country. The web address of the NETBIO organization is www.lmaauctions.com. Personel a Sulphur Springs Livestock and Dairy Auction encourage buyers and producers alike to go and visit the website to familiarize themselves with the new process. (***Note: You do not have to register as a buyer to view the "action" of the sale. Please "X" out the box and enjoy the sale, even if you do not intend to buy!) The next NETBIO Sale is scheduled for July 20, 2005 and the last weaning date for the sale is quickly approaching on, June 5th. Make plans to participate and learn about the many advantages of marketing through the NETBIO organization. ______________________
