Weekend Rainfall

Bryant Fisher, a dairy farmer in the Reilly Springs Community looks at his rain guage to determine the
amount of rain that he received at his farm over the weekend.
Rainfall amounts varied across Hopkins County, when measureable precipitation fell over the weekend, for the first time in several places. "We received about two inches in Reilly Springs, and we needed it," stated Bryant Fisher. "We got the bulk of the rainfall on Friday night."
Reports from Miller Grove indicated that Frank and Gladys Burns only received seven tenths of an inch. However, north of Miller Grove, Junior Dicken received two inches.
Larry Fite of the Arbala Community reported that he received one inch of rainfall over the weekend. "And, we used every drop of it," quipped Fite.
Reports from Yantis indicated that they received up to one inch of rainfall. It rained on the awards ceremony for the Big Catfish Splash, but soon the sun returned and the rain stopped.
This thunderstorm developed over Lake Fork on Sunday afternoon and brought up to 1/2 inch
of rainfall to that area.
Brodie and Mary Koon received about one and one-half inches at their farm in the Divide and Bonanza Communities. And, Richard and Oleta Bearden reported that they had received about two and a quarter inches at their home in the Tira Community.
According to Dike Postmaster, Jan Bartley, that community in northwestern Hopkins County received one and one quarter inches of rainfall.
Too little, too late........This corn field in southern Hopkins County begs for a "drink of water"
as thunderstorms move across the horizon. Drought conditions continue to plague crops in
the county.
Harold Bryant, a farmer in the Gaffords Chapel Community reported that he received a half-inch of rainfall, this weekend.
And, reports from the Como and Pickton areas differed. Some reported isolated showers that produced up to a half-inch of rain, while others received no rainfall at all.
