Seven active members of the Saltillo FFA Chapter were in Lubbock last week to attend the 77th Annual Texas FFA Convention. The group included: Trey Thompson, Jessica Sparks, Daniel White, Jocsan Gamez, Billy Sinclair, Stephanie Methe, and Jeff Chandler.
Besides attending a series of business meetings, the group from Saltillo FFA toured a variety of West Texas Agri-Businesses, including a manufacturer of cotton gins, a feedlot, and other High Plains establishments.
Two members of the chapter, Daniel White and Trey Thompson, were awarded their Lone Star Farmer Degrees in Lubbock. This is the highest award that the state association can infer upon a member, and these two individuals had operated a supervised farming program, developed leadership skills, and completed the required record keeping to attain the degree.
