Hopkins County Youth Wins
All-Around Cowboy In
4-States Rodeo Competition
Local high school senior and rodeo competitor, Bradley Ball, missed his high school graduation at North Hopkins High School, recently. He was competing in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center for the top spot in the Four States High School Rodeo Finals, conducted in Sulphur Springs.
Bradley was later presented his diploma by teachers and school personnel, as he sat atop his horse, waiting to compete in the next rodeo event. However, his tenacity and determination paid off. At the end of the competition, Bradley Ball was named 2008 All-Around Cowboy of the Four States Rodeo Association, garnering him a Championship Two-Horse Trailer and bragging rites for the next year.
During the awards ceremony, Bradley won First for the year and Second in the average for the chute dogging event.;second for the year and third in the average in the tie-down calf roping event; first for the year and first in the average for break-away roping; fourth for the year and second int he average for ribbon roping; first for the year and second in the average for team roping; and the All-Around Cowboy honors. He received the trailer, three saddles, three buckles, four hat certificates, four photo certificates, and $2,150.00 in prize money.
"That will pay a little bit of gas money to go and compete, at future contests," quipped Bradley. "And, I was needing a new saddle and trailer!"
Bradley is the son of Harold and Jackie Ball and was active in Panther Baseball during his high school career. He is currently undecided about his college plans but plans to pursue something in mechanics or construction field.
