A Thursday morning press conference at the Sulphur Springs Police Department revealed the arrest of a nineteen year old Sulphur Springs woman, in connection with the aggravated assault of a 15 year old juvenile, stemming from a Sunday morning, Septemember 9th, fight in the 100 Block of Ardis Street.
Allegedly the 15 year old was riding in an automobile owned by the nineteen year old, and driven by a third party boyfriend. Upon arrival at the Ardis Street residence, a verbal altercation began between the two young women. The altercation escalated into a "cat fight" and the two young women exchanged blows, resulting in the 15 year old being thrown down and receiving a blow to her head, when it struck the street curb. The fifteen year old received a skull fracture to her temple area, resulting in needed medical attention.

"We've charged the nineteen year old suspect with aggravated assault," confirmed Jim Bayuk, Chief of Police, and his lead investigator, Monty Tipps. "After interviewing the young ladies and witnesses, we've determined that the charges are warranted in the case."
The nineteen year old suspect turned herself into authorities, on Wednesday, September 19th, and was arraigned and placed on a $20,000.00 bond. The suspect bonded out.
A medical fund has been established for the fifteen year old juvenile at Community Bank. However, the youth is expected to fully recover from her injuries. The case will be forwarded to the Hopkins County Grand Jury for indictment or dismissal of the charges.
