A Baloney Sandwich and an R.C. Cola
by: Bobby McDonald
It's as a part of summer as the hot and humid temperatures.......it's a good ol' baloney sandwich! Nicknamed "round steak," baloney is a staple in most Southerner's diets, in the summertime and whether plain or fried, is a delicious meal when tomatoes, lettuce, onion, and host of other condiments are added between two slices of bread!
Having been practically reared in the confines of a country store, there was always baloney available to slice from the "stick" for a summertime meal, and add mustard, relish, or sweet pickles to the aforementioned ingredients and you've got you a special treat. Add a R.C. Cola or maybe a Nehi organce, or NU-Grape to "wash it down" with, and you've got the perfect summertime meal. Add a bag of Fritos or Doritos and you've got one of the best meals on the planet!

How many of you can remember eating baloney sandwiches as a kid?
Do you eat yours with mustard or mayo?
How many of you can remember pickled-pimento loaf? Or, maybe even "liver loaf" with the outside ring of fat?
Baloney was always my favorite and I like mine with mustard!
How long has it been since you had a baloney sandwich? "Well, that's too long!"
Guess what I'm fixin' for dinner?

Do you like your baloney plain or fried?
