The Sulphur Springs ISD Bands presented their annual Christmas Concert, on Thursday night, with a new "twist!" They served pancakes as a fundraiser for the band, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria, and then the concert was held in the Civic Center Auditorium. "It was just a way for us to fund some of the 'extras" for the the band," advised Charles McCauley. "With funding cuts in education, we're looking everywhere to 'make up the difference' and allow our students to participate in as many activities as possible. Thanks to the Band Booster Club for their help in supporting the band, and all those who came out and ate pancakes, on Thursday night!"
Thursday night's concert, entitled "A Christmas Celebration," began with the 6th Grade band, under the direction of Steve Proctor, as they performed two songs, "Gingerbread Men on Parade," and "Christmas Sleigh Ride."

The Sulphur Springs Middle School Gold Band, under the direction of Jennifer Turner, was next on the program with three selections: the Christmas Classic, "Joy to the World," "Santa on the Housetop," and the popular Christmas tune of "Frosty the Snowman."
The Sulphur Springs Middle School Blue Band then performed "Aftershock," "Ayrshire Portrait," and "Sounds of Joy." They are directed by Rob McDaniel.
The Sulphur Springs Middle School Varsity Band, under the direction of Spencer Emmert, was next to perform, as they presented three numbers. They included: "Christmas Fanfares," "What Child Is This?" and "Sleigh Ride."

The Sulphur Springs High School Concert Band then performed three numbers, under the direction of Charlie McCauley. Their selections included: "The Many Sounds of Christmas," a lively tune of "A Swingin' Christmas," and "Carol of the Bells," that featured the percusion section of the band.
The evening's concert was completed with an outstanding performance of the High School Jazz Band, as they performed a number of selections throughout the program!
