Slow Cooker BBQ Sausage
For the Family on the Go....
by: Bobby McDonald
It's the first week of school and everyone is tired, following a long and trying day of getting back into the routine. You've had a "jillion" stops to make for additional school supplies and needed things the teachers have requested. Or perhaps, in addition, you've had to wait for your child to complete band practice, football practice, or a volleyball game. You're headed for home and the proverbial question is, "What's for supper, Mom?"
Or, perhaps you've been invited to a tailgate party, this weekend, or will be required to provide a quick dish for a Labor Day Weekend cookout! What to fix?
An easy meal to prepare, with exceptional taste, is BBQ Sausage, in your slow cooker!

The night before cut enough of your favorite sausage to allow for 2 each for men and "growing boys," and 1 1/2 sausages for most women, in half, length-wise, but not all the way through the casing. Then, cut about three to four slits crossways, on the sausages, and place them in your slow cooker or crockpot. Cover with your favorite BBQ sauce, already prepared, or mix-up you favorite sauce from a recipe.
Turn the slow cooker onto low heat, the next morning, and allow to slowly cook, all day, making certain that there is enough sauce in the cooker to keep the sausages covered (may need to add some additional water).
When you arrive home, the dish is ready to eat, and you can add large rolls or hotdog buns, slather with mustard and place a sausage in each bun. Serve with chips and/or some homemade pico, and you have a meal!
It's easy and delicious for the family, on the go!
