Blue Blazes Prepare for 50th Anniversary
Show, This Weekend
by: Bobby McDonald
Former SSHS Blue Blazes members work on perfecting a routine that they will
perform in the upcoming weekend show, as they celebrate 50 years of history.
Left to right they are: Julie Hager Ashmore, Pam Stephens, Sue Ann Green Johnson,
Janet Bailey Shields, Laura Totten Massey, and Kathy Orr Rudd.
A number of former members of the SSHS Blue Blazes Drill Team have made plans to return and "join the show" for this year's 50th Anniversary Show. Members have been working for the past week and will continue to work in preparation for the numbers they will perform on Friday and Saturday night, in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center.
"It takes some adjustments!" declared one former member from the 1970's. "But, actually some of the steps have 'come back' and it really isn't as hard as I figured it would be. Ironically, some of it you just seem never to forget!"

Looks like Katie McCarley still has "the moves" as she rehearses
for the 50th Anniversary celebration on Sunday afternoon.
Former members will be joing the current troupe on-stage for the celebration, and performing routines in groups.

All former members are invited back to the this weekend's celebration and will be honored at a reception following Saturday night's performance.

Congratulations, Blazes!!!
