" The history of a place is marked by those who, however briefly, inhabit it!"
"Hopkins County, what a great place to live. Deep in the heart of East Texas, Hopkins County was first the home to the Caddo Indians, a mound building group of people that populated the area. Then the Cherokee Indians made their entry into the region and other tribes crossed the lands that lie in the boundries of modern day Hopkins County. The Caddo Trace' entered the county in the southeastern part of the county near Black Oak, wound through Reilly Springs and on by the mineral springs located at a place first called Bright Star. Then the road wound its way toward Black Jack Grove and on into Hunt County.
Hopkins County has been home to saints and sinners, preachers and prostitutes, givers and takers, bond and free, each leaving their indelible mark upon the pages of her history. Each contributing that spirit that was unique to their own calling."
"Hopkins County citizens have always 'plowed' deep and found a way to live, love and have a good time, while building a foundation for a brighter future."
"Come explore the joys, sorrows, tears, and turmoils as ... heroic people made their mark in the history of this place and continued to struggle with hope towart the twenty-first century."
