Saturday Morning 5K Run/Walk
Raises Funds for Breast Cancer Research
by: Bobby McDonald
It was "up before the chickens" on Saturday morning for a large crowd of folks who came out in support of the Local Firefighters and EMS, as they conducted their annual 5K Run/Walk to raise money for breast cancer research. Money collected will be donated to the Susan Komen Foundation and was given in memory and in support of local breast cancer survivors and those battling the disease, that seems to effect almost every family.
"It really becomes personal," reflected one of Saturday's participants, as she reflected on getting up early on a Saturday morning. "When you look out among the crowd and their are classmates, cousins, and even members of your immediate family that are battling the disease and then you think of those who haven't survived the disease, you realize just how important the fight really is!"
