Fun, Food, & Excitement at
Business After Hours,
On Thursday
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a large crowd of local business owners that gathered on the downtown square, at Belle Amie Day Spa, for the June Business After Hours event, hosted by the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce. A menu of wine, soft drinks, and light hors d'oeurvres was served, as local business leaders were able to network and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere.
Topics that surfaced during the evening event included the upcoming weekend music concerts and fireworks on the the square, as participants witnessed the arrival of the staging for the shows. "It's just great that we have two shows for the weekend and a host of downtown businesses offering sidewalk sales and other events on the square," commented one local business owner. "These events bring people to the businesses downtown and offers everyone an opportunity to enjoy our local downtown area!"

The Main Street construction project was also a topic of discussion as progress updates were discussed and many commented that they had found easy access to the businesses on Main Street, with a minimum amount of walking. "You really don't have to walk any further from your parking place than you do when you park at Wal-mart," expressed one local shopper. "It's just that each of us should make an effort to support the Main Street businesses who have the fortitude to want something new and beautiful for the downtown area and have been willing to undergo the construction process!"
Excitement was also offered for the move to the new Chamber of Commerce Building, that is slated for the autumn of 2009. "It will be great for the Chamber of Commerce to once again be in the downtown area," expressed one local member. "It will just be great when we have visitors downtown to point them down the street and tell them where they can get all the local information. We may need to think about having someone in the office on Saturday's so they can direct the traffic!"
A successful State Ice Cream Contest was celebrated and local business owners were able to meet new business owners and to welcome them to the Hopkins County Business Community!
