"It was a great night for football," expressed Head Football Coach and Athletic Director, Greg Owens, as he described Friday night's 44-22 victory over the defending state 3-A Champions, Liberty Eylau. "Our guys tended to business and executed the game plan that resulted in a Wildcat victory!"

The Wildcat "fast offense" was a major factor in the game and Sulphur Springs junior quarterback, Tyrick Rollison made a school record six touchdown passes, that will make a mark him in school records for years to come. He ties the school record and completed 20 touchdown passes for the season, that stands to make him another mark in the records.

Friday night's game was a lesson in containing Liberty Eylau's LaMichael James, the Leopard's outstanding running back, and the Wildcat defense allowed him 247 yards of offense that accounted for the majority of the Leopard's 259 yards, and all of their 22 points on the scoreboard.

The rest of the story was Rollinson, as he connected with five different receivers and completed an outstanting 29 of 35 passes during the game. "Tyrick did an outstanding job for us on Friday night," exclaimed Owens. "He was truly outstanding and when he connected with his mark, things happened!"

The Wildcats managed to capitalize on interceptions and to execute their game plan, to such an extent that they led 30-0, during the second quarter of the game.

Statistics showed that the Wildcats  managed 21 first downs during the match-up, as opposed to LE's 11 and completed 321 passing yards for the night, to LE's 54. In the running game, the Wildcats accumulated 45 yards to LE's 304. In total yardage, the Cats had 367 yards to LE's 258. The Leopards had two turnovers, that the Wildcats took advantage of, while the Cats managed to keep the ball and eliminate any turnover yardage. The Wildcats were penalized for 35 yards, oppose to 45 penalty yards against the Leopards.

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats will host longtime rival Mt. Pleasant (3-2 for the season) on Friday night, in Gerald Prim Stadium, where the Tigers will be attempting to overcome a "stinging" loss from Carthage. "I just hope that this winning momentum carries on into district play," expressed a jubilant Owens. "We have the ability to make plays happen and to make scores, if everyone does their job and tends to business!"

Plan on being at the Wildcat game on Friday night, to lend your support in their effort to beat Mt. Pleasant.

Congratulations, Sulphur Springs Wildcats
On Your 44-22 Victory over Liberty Eylau!!!
