Sweet N Salty Ribbon Cutting

Thank you to everyone who attended the official grand opening and ribbon cutting of Sweet N Salty, located at 217 Main Street.  All guests were greeted by the owners, Lisa and Jeremy Hampton and treated to 3 different flavors of popcorn-caramel, cheese and dill pickle.  This new gift shop features over 60 varieties of popcorn, old fashioned candy, specialty sodas and tons of gift baskets.  Some of the newest flavors are: Snickers Cheesecake, Birthday Cake and Barbecue!  They are open M-F from 10-8 and Saturdays from 10-10!  Watch for special hours during downtown events.  For more information you may call 903-335-8931.

 

Don’t miss the 30 East Music Festival, Thursday, Friday & Saturday on the Square

For a list of all of the bands that will be on the square this weekend, visit www.facebook.com/30eastmusicfestival.  The music will begin Thursday and Friday at 4:00pm and will start at 9:00am on Saturday and run ALL DAY!

 

East Texas Heat Baseball BBQ Sandwich Cookout on the Square, March 8th 11-1:00

The East Texas Heat Baseball Team will be hosting a BBQ sandwich cookout on the square, Friday, March 8th from 11-1:00.  The sack lunch will include a BBQ sandwich, chips, cookies and drink for only $5.  Pre-orders will be taken until 5:00 Wednesday.  Delivery available for orders of 10 sandwiches or more.  You may call or text your order to 903-438-5555 or 806-535-4536. 

 

Business After Hours DATE CHANGE at Swamp Pots, Tuesday, March 12th at 5:00

Please join us for the afterhours mixer at Swamp Pots, downtown Sulphur Springs, Tuesday, March 12th  from 5:00-6:30.  This will be the first opportunity to see the new seafood place on the square! 

 

 

 

Walgreens Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, March 23rd

Walgreens is having their annual Easter Egg Hunt and activities on Saturday, March . This is their fundraiser for Relay 4 Life. Hot Dogs, Drink, and Chips for $2.00.  Bake sale, face painting. Easter Bunny photo shoot.  10am-3pm.  Easter Egg Hunt at 11am.

 

Rotary Club Spelling Bee, Thursday, March 21st at SS Middle School

Don’t Miss the annual Rotary Club Spelling Bee, Thursday, March 21st at the Sulphur Springs Middle School Cafeteria (Please note the new location).  The meal will begin at 5:00 and the spelling bee will begin at 6:30.  The cost is only $10.  All proceeds go back to this community in the form of scholarships for graduating seniors of county schools and in grants for worthwhile organizations that do good things for Hopkins County.  In the past, recipients such as CASA, Dinner Bell, Our Place, Boys and Girls Club, Veterans Memorial, Backpack Buddies, Northeast Texas Livestock Association, Symphony League, Teen Court, Terrific Tuesdays, Workcamp, CAN Help, Friends of the Sulphur Springs Public Library, and many others have benefitted from the money Rotary contributes.  The theme this year is spring.  This is wide open to interpretation so costumes can be varied and fun!  Prizes are awarded for the team that displays the most spirit.

2012-2013 Adult Leadership Project Underway…You Can Help!

The project for the 2012-2013 Adult Leadership Project will be to provide a pedestrian boardwalk along the soon-to-be NEW Peevine Pinion Lake which will connect to Buford Park.  There are 4 different sponsorship levels: Platinum-$1000, On-site boardwalk recognition, 30 day banner display and news recognition; Gold-$500 On-site Boardwalk Recognition and news recognition; Silver-$250, news recognition and certificate of giving; Bronze-$100, certificate of giving.  For more information you may contact any Adult Leadership Member or call the Chamber of Commerce.  You may make checks payable to Sulphur springs Leadership Class and mail them to 300 Connally Street, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.

History by Foot Tour scheduled for April 20th

John Sellers will be hosting two History by Foot tours on Saturday April 20th.  The first tour will begin at 9:00am and the second will begin at 10:45.  The tours are only $10 and will meet in the center of the square downtown Sulphur Springs.  If you have never been on one of John’s tours, you will be amazed at the information he will share!    You will discover the history of some of our oldest buildings and landmarks and learn what events took place where and he may even have a few surprises for this tour!  Tickets will be on sale at Alliance Bank, City National Bank and the Genealogical Library.
