We will be distributing a new map…but it is not ready yet!
We have had many phone calls, so I wanted to let you know that Judge Brown has commissioned Liberty Marketing to create a new Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Como/Pickton and Cumby map. The map is not finished yet, but I will let you know as soon as it is so you may stop by and pick one up. Earth-Kind® Drought Management Leadership Conference, March 27th at Myers Park in McKinney
March 27th, 2012, 10:00 am and 4:00 pm
The Leadership Conference is designed to give key leaders the opportunity to discuss drought issues and identify solutions. The program is designed for Extension to provide the leadership necessary to bring all the key players together and develop immediate solutions to problems related to drought and water shortages.
Program agenda: The event will provide Extension and select leaders the opportunity to present drought issues and recommended solutions. Speakers will include representatives from groups such as Municipal Governments, Parks and Recreation Departments, Texas Nursery and Landscape Association, Water Management Districts, Texas Farm Bureau, County Government, and others. The agenda will limit each speaker’s time and encourage discussion. The speakers will be asked to present in a very specific and direct manner, solution oriented, plus offer advice, and provide innovative ideas and information.
Note: Water issues are inherently controversial and involve political issues. The event is not intended to discuss political issues but rather encourage collaboration between communities and leaders. In order to address local issues, participants may need to present their action plan to elected officials

40 Day Conservation Challenge
In these difficult times of drought, Texas AgriLife Extension is extending the 40 gallon challenge to Hopkins County citizens and beyond.  Water conservation is an ever-growing concern for everyone, but each person can make a difference to save water on a daily basis.  Take the 40 gallon challenge and challenge your co-workers, friends, neighbors, and family members to do the same! Go to www.40gallonchallenge.org
