Do you make the BEST Homemade Ice Cream? Then Prove it!!!!!
Entry forms are available for the 11th Annual Texas State Champion Homemade Ice Cream Freeze-Off at the Chamber of Commerce office at 300 Connally Street. The event will take place on Saturday, June 9th at 4:00pm at the Civic Center! Prizes are awarded in three categories: Little Dips (Ages 6-12), Big Dips (Ages 13 and Older) and Super Scoops (Previous first place winners). Entries will be judged in the following categories: Plain (Chocolate or Vanilla), Fruit (Single Ingredient Fruit) and Novelty (Mixed Ingredients). Each winner will receive a CASH prize and trophy!!! So start figuring out your favorite recipe and submit it for entry in the contest. And, by the way…there is NO ENTRY FEE!!! Summer Baseball Camp presented by SSBBA and HEAT Baseball, June 11-14th.
This youth camp is an excellent opportunity for players to develop their skills in all areas of the game. The camp staff will emphasize hitting, fielding, base running and throwing fundamentals through drills, proper practice techniques and game situations. Full-day campers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills during games each day. Campers are divided by age and ability for games and drills. The camp will be directed by The HEAT Baseball Academy. The cost for 1 session is $35, 2 sessions are $60, 3 sessions are $75 and 4 Sessions for $80. Each session will focus on a different aspect of the game. The Camp will be held at Coleman Park and The HEAT Academy. It is open to boys ages 7-14. Dairy Foods Contest, Saturday, June 16th
Entry divisions are: Beginning Cooks - ages 11 and under; Youthful Cooks - ages 12-18; Experienced Cooks - ages 19-59; and Seasoned Cooks - ages 60 and over. There is also a division for past and present Dairy Festival Board members. Entry categories are: Cheesecake/other desserts; Side Dish; Main Dish; and Appetizers/Nutritious Snacks.
There is no charge to enter, but entrants must be Hopkins County residents, and recipes must include at least two real dairy products. Written entries are due to the Extension Office by 5:00 p.m. on June 11. The contest will take place at the Extension Office, with registration of dishes from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m. Judging will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by an awards presentation at approximately 11:15 a.m. Contact Johanna Hicks for more information - 903-885-3443.
