Have you turned in your entry form for the World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest?

It’s hard to believe but the World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest is just 2 months away.  The date for the contest is Saturday, September 18th at Buford Park! If you cooked stew last year, you will have your stew site reserved from last year until Tuesday, August 31st, then after that all stew sites will be assigned on a first come first served basis!  We have already received several entry forms and are looking forward to it being the best stew contest EVER!!!  If you would like more information, please call us at 903-885-6515.

We just received word that Atwoods is accepting applications online at www.atwoods.com so if you are interested in working at Atwoods, please log on and fill out an application!

 

Ribbon Cutting for the New Hampton Inn at Noon on Friday July 23rd!

Sulphur Springs.  We are so happy to welcome them to Sulphur Springs and to the Chamber of Commerce, so stop by on your lunch hour to say hello and see the newest hotel in Sulphur Springs.

 

Ribbon Cutting for Collision Central at Noon on August 4th!

Please stop by on your lunch hour to help us welcome Collision Central to Sulphur Springs and the Chamber of Commerce during the ribbon cutting on August 4th at Noon.  This will give you the chance to meet the folks at Collision Central and also see all of the ways they could help you if you need repairs done to your vehicle!

 

Fall Composting Program-July 22nd at H. C Extension Office-5:00-6:00pm

Ken Kunkel (Master Composter) will be conducting a Fall Composting Program on Thursday, July 22nd from 5-6 at the Extension Office located at 1200 B Houston Street.  The Seminar is free, but you need to register by calling 903-885-3443.

 

Fall Gardening Workshop presented by H. C. Master Gardeners-July 22nd from 7:00-8:30pm

If you would like to have more information on preparing your yard/garden for the fall season, then attend this FREE seminar at the Extension Office, presented by the Hopkins County Master Gardeners from 7:00-8:30pm.

They will discuss tree pruning, cover crops, soil preparation, lasagna gardening, transplanting, composting, and proper use of insecticides and herbicides.  Please register by calling 903-885-3443!

 

Pop Warner Football & Cheer Sign-ups at Coleman Park-Alliance Bank Field from 9-3

If your son is interested in playing football in the fall or your daughter wants to cheer for football, please stop by Coleman Park this Saturday from 9-3 for sign-ups and weigh-in!

 

 

SS Girls Softball signup begin Monday July 26th at Fieldhouse Sports

Fall Softball signups will run from July 26th through August 21st at Fieldhouse Sports.  The cost is $50 for the season.  Late registration (after the 21st will be an additional $10).

 

Free Marriage Education Class—Saturday, August 7th

The Texas AgriLife Extension Office is offering a free marriage education class for married, engaged, or seriously dating couples.  The class will be from 8:15am-4:00pm and refreshments will be served.  For more information or to make reservations, please call Johanna Hicks at 903-885-3443.
