

Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center to Host
Twelfth Annual “Chip-in-for-Children” Golf Benefit
Winnsboro, TX, April 26, 2012 – The Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center held its twelfth annual “Chip-in-for-Children” Benefit Golf Tournament Tuesday, April 24th at the Garden Valley Golf Course located at 22049 FM 1995, Lindale, Texas. This was a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
The tournament is a major fundraiser for the child advocacy center providing several thousand dollars for services to abused children in our community. Ozarka® Brand Spring Water of Hawkins has been the primary corporate sponsor of this event for the past nine years.
“On behalf of Ozarka and our 200 employees in Hawkins, and many of our partners and suppliers who are joining us in this effort, we are proud to partner with such an important organization in East Texas,” said Scott Bradford, Supply Chain Manager for Ozarka’s Wood County Bottling Facility in Hawkins. “The Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center provides a critical service for children and families in crisis and Ozarka is committed to promoting and supporting the health and welfare of children in this region.”

Trophies were given to the top three teams, along with various prizes for other contests to be held during the day. First place team was Mark Peterson, Hal Riney, Tony Davis and Ron Taylor. Second place went to Greg Faulkner, Kurt Smith, Allen Powell, and Doug Williamson. Third place included Jim Herlocker, Julie Yarbrough, Brent Cain, and Duncan McAdoo. Holly Lake Kiwanis Club won the floating “Kiwanis Trophy”, which is presented to the Kiwanis team with the best score.
The Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center began in 1998 and currently covers Camp, Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Rains, Titus, Wood and Upshur Counties. Since it’s beginning, the center has seen over 5,600 children and provided service to thousands of other secondary victims of abuse.
All services provided at the center are free of charge to the victims and their non-offending family members as a result of community support through donations and fundraisers along with grants. The center provides video recorded forensic interviews, counseling, forensic exams, crisis counseling, court testimony, case tracking, team staffing, training, coordination with other social agencies for client assistance and public education on child abuse awareness. As a proactive approach, the center also provides parent education classes and parent support groups to strengthen families in their core values and patterns of rearing children. As an accredited organization of Parents Anonymous®, National Children’s Alliance and the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas, the Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center strives to promote the best practices in our community in child abuse prevention.
