Regional Civic Center Update
Complete and Ready For First Event
by: Bobby McDonald
With new lighting, a fresh coat of paint on everything, new floor coverings, and a "remake" of the bathrooms and kitchen area, the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, is ready for its debute performance, on Saturday night, when the Lights of Life Gala will unfold as the first event to be hosted. "We've been 'shooting' for this date since the inception of the idea for remodeling the facilities," expressed Director Pansy Bell and Construction Coordinator, Charles Helm. "And, we've got things ready to host the event, on Saturday night."
Of course, there are some 'punch list' items that need to be completed and some of the tables and chairs haven't arrive, but the facility will be ready on Thursday afternoon, when the Lights of Life Gala Committee starts bringing in their decorations, table, staging, and other materials to host the event.
"I think Jackie Thornton has been a daily visitor here since the project begin, just to make sure that everything was going to be ready for her and her event," quipped Helm. "Like for all of us, it couldn't be completed fast enough for her, as she was 'sweating bullets' for it to be ready for her event!"

"That was the target date for us to have things completed, from the very beginning we knew we had to have it ready for the Gala, that is one of the biggest events in Hopkins County, each year," expressed Pansy Bell. "And, now all of us can breathe a sigh of relief!"
"I think people will stand amazed at all of the changes and how beautiful the remodeling job has made this facility!" continued Bell. "And, I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard on getting it done by the completion date and making my job that much easier! Yes, it's been a headache to work on such a short time line, but it had to be done this way and I'm excited for everyone to see the results! It's something our community can be proud of and use for years to come!"

"Those not attending this weekend's Lights of Life Gala event, can drop by the Civic Center next week and see all of the improvements, or can see them when they attend the annual Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce Banquet or the NETLA Youth Market Show, both big events scheduled for February in the Civic Center.
Congratulations, Civic Center Staff
and Construction Crew on a Great Job!!!
