The Band Perry Top Winners at CMA's
by: Bobby McDonald
If you're a Country Music Fan, you were either "glued" to the television on Wednesday night or had your recorder going, to see who 'walked away' with the top awards at the CMA Awards hosted in Nashville, last night. Hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, the 45th Annual Awards show featured the top stars in Country Music, classic performances, and a number of special tributes.
Big winners included Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, and The Band Perry.
Oklahoma's Blake Shelton took Male Vocalist of the Year
Lindale's Miranda Lambert took Female Vocalist of the Year
Jason Aldean took Album of the Year and a Music Event Award
Lady Antebellum took Vocal Group of the Year
Sugarland took the Music Duo Award
The Band Perry took two prizes for "If I Die Young" and "All Your Life"
Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter took the Video Award for "You and Tequila"
And, Taylor Swift captured the Entertainer of the Year Award
In one of the most memorable events of the night, especially if you were a "kid" in the 1960's and 1970's, Vince Gill, Keith Urban, and Brad Paisley performed a tribute to legendary Country Music Performer, Glen Campbell, as Gill sang "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," Urban "belted out" "Wichita Lineman," and Paisley closed with "Galveston." Longtime Country Artist, Campbell was at the awards despite suffering from Alzheimers disease.
It was a great show, with some great, great music!
