Kids Cook at the Market Returns for the 2012 Season

Youth ages 7 to 14 are invited to participate in Kids Cook at the Market, Saturday, June 23 at the Main Street Farmers' Market. Starting time is 9:30 a.m. There is no charge for the event, which will last approximately 1 hour. Meet at the Texas AgriLife Extension exhibit, "Savor the Flavor" station, where Johanna Hicks will lead participants on a tour of the market to select fresh produce to be used in the day's recipe.
After washing hands and produce, the young cooks will have the opportunity to prepare the special recipe of the day. Simple nutrition, hand hygiene, kitchen and knife safety, and simple cooking techniques will be covered. Parents are welcome to attend with their children.
