Gary and Linda Boren, of Rockwall, show-off their 1960 Classic Corvette in the Dairy Festival Parade
before the rains came, on Saturday.
"Dairy Dollars" Even Found
In Classic Corvette Show
by: Bobby McDonald
Once the rain subsided and it was time for the Annual Dairy Festival Classic Corvette Show, folks were surprised that when they were inquiring about one of the entries in the show, that it had been purchased with "dairy dollars."
Gary Boren, who now lives in Rockwall, Texas, admitted that, yes, it was dairy dollars that purchase his "one-owner," 1960 model classic Corvette. "I was fifteen years old, and working on my father's 200 cow dairy farm in Yakima, Washington, when I went to purchase my first car. I went to the dealership and the salesman talked me into purchasing this vehicle," exclaimed Boren. "I've been owning and driving it ever since. It now has over 240,000 miles on it and we've traveled all across the United States!"
Boren's 1960 model was one of the highlights of the spectators at Saturday's Show, located in the parking lot of the Southwest Dairy Museum.

Some 40 classic cars were exhibited in Saturday's show and featured all years and all makes, to the delight of the large crowd of people who attended the event. "It's great to come out and dream," remarked one of the spectators. "You can feast your eyes on these classic beauties and imagine yourself impressing all the women!"

Saturday's show featured a wide array of beautiful cars and was sponsored by Pilgrim's Bank. A special thanks to all of the employees of the bank who served in making certain that everyone was registered and that the show went perfectly.
