Cover Girl Contestants
Prepare For Week of Competition
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a "get-acquainted" party and preparation for the seven young ladies that will be vying for the title of Hopkins County Fall Festival Cover Girl, as they met at Plain and Fancy Restaurant, on Wednesday night. The event, sponsored by the Hopkins County Fall Festival, and hosted by Cover Girl Coordinatior, Tracy Dennis, served to answer any questions and to go over the schedules for the contestants and their parents.
"We had a few girls that had conflicts and weren't able to compete, but we have seven really excited young ladies, who are ready to compete!" expressed Dennis. "Their excited and I'm excited about next week!"
Cover Girl Coordinator, Tracy Dennis, briefs the contestants on all of the
rules and the schedule of the contest events, at Wednesday night's meeting.
The seven contestants include: Ariel Darden, Dionna Ugalde, Kayla Williams, Chesley McGlammery, Shelby Blezinger, Sommer Gregory, and Zabrina Wilhite. They arrived for the meeting Wednesday night, accompanied by their parents and were briefed on all the contest rules and competitive events.

Cover Girl contestants and their parents were invited to a get-acquainted dinner.
This year's contestants will compete in the traditional events, such as cow milking, tractor driving, calf scramble, horse saddling, and cutting-up a chicken. They will also bottle feed a baby calf and will be decorating store windows in Sulphur Springs, to promote the Fall Festival. Another aspect of the contest is to secure signatures of those participating in various events, throughout the festival, including 15-18 stew cooks, on Saturday, September 15th.

This year's Cover Girl, Helena Wall, encouraged the girls and admonished them to
not think of the contest as a competition, but a time to make friends and have fun!
Watch for this year's Cover Girl, Helena Wall, and all of the contestants adding "sparkle" to all of the Fall Festival events. Wall addressed the girls, on Wednesday night, and encouraged them in the contest. "Don't think of the contest as a competition, but think of it as a chance to get to know the other contestants and to become friends," admonished Wall. "The thing you'll take away from the contest is the friendships and fun that you've had representing Hopkins County!"
