Como-Pickton Baccalaureate Services
"Rock" at Independence Church

Deon Robinson, a member of the Class of 2012, was featured on the drurms
during the musical selections, Sunday night.

It was a wonderful and "lively" service, as the Como-Pickton Class of 2012 were honored with a tribute, speakers, music, and a reception, at the Independence Baptist Church, in the Sandfield Community, Sunday night, for Baccalaureate Services. The annual Baccalaureate services are observed in most of the area rural schools, as a spiritual guidance for spring graduates.

Speaker for Sunday night's event was Minister Demetra Robinson, who spoke on "walls of protection being lifted from around Job, in Job chapter 1." "You members of the class of 2012 are similar to Job," related Robinson. "The protection of teachers, administrators, and even to a certain degree, of your parents, is soon to be lifted from around you, with your graduation. It will be up to you to make decisions, based on what your've been taught and to make something of yourselves, in life, whether it be in college, in your job, and even in your relationships and marriages. I encourage you to look to God for direction, when you don't know the answers. He's in control of everything and will give you the tools to be the person He wants your to be!"

A response was given by Class member, Deon Robinson, and scriptures were read by classmates, Korey and Kaitland Hankins.

Music was provided by the Independence Baptist Church Choir and the guests, "God's Angelica Voices."

Following a benediction by Rev. D.K. Young, and other ministers, a reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church.
