At Como-Pickton School, Wednesday
by: Bobby McDonald
When teachers in Como-Pickton School returned to class, following lunch, they discovered notes indicating a bomb threat in the school, on Wednesday. Immediate evacuation of the students and all personnel from the school was accomplished, when they were routed to the football stadium. "It wasn't raining when we first went outside, but soon after we got to the football stadium, the rain began, soaking everyone," advised Superintendent of Schools, Sandi Billodeau. "It was a rainy mess and quite uncomfortable for the students and staff!"
Students were evacuated to the football stadium and away from the school, once the bomb threat
was discovered in the Como-Pickton School.
The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office was contacted, as well as other emergency personnel, when the 911 call was received and they were quickly at the school. Teachers and staff began releasing their students to frantic parents who converged on the football field, seeking their students, and the remaining students were loaded onto buses, to be delivered home and away from the school.

Students and parents at Como-Pickton School were "drenched" in a pouring rain as they ran
for the cover of their vehicles, once they were released from the football field to go home.
Once the evacuation was completed, local law enforcement officers were working toward examining the school, to try to determine if the threat was a hoax or had merit.
"I can't believe that someone would do something like this, with it raining outside, and making everyone suffer," declared one high school student, as she shivered in the rain. "It's cold, it's rainy, and we have better things to be doing than standing out in the rain!"

School personnel, administrators, and members of the Como-Pickton CISD were on-hand to handle the situation and make certain that all students were safely delivered away from the school.
Students who weren't released to their parents were loaded on the buses for delivery home, after
they were released from the football field.

"It is a shame for this to happen during Homecoming Week here at Como-Pickton School," expressed School Board President Mark Humphrey. "Hopefully, we can quickly find who did this and punish them accordingly!"

the campus is cleared, Wednesday afternoon.
Further information will be posted as the results of the search at Como-Pickton School is determined.
