The celebration continued on Saturday, following the Como-Pickton Eagles' come-from-behind win, on Friday night, before a hometown crowd at Ron Heflin Field. The win was even "sweeter" when it celebrated a week of Homecoming activities, and marked the end to a 14 game losing streak for the Eagles.
Sophomore James Carter, was the running vack that scored the winning score, with only 1:36 remaining in the game, Friday night. The Eagles were trailing the Celeste Blue Devils 15 to 18, when Carter managed to "get loose!" Noe Tellez then made the PAT, sending the Eagles to a 22-18 victory, that found Eagle fans streaming to the field as the final seconds "ticked" away.

The Eagles had struggled in the first quarter of the game, almost scoring but being stopped by penalties, a fumble, and missed field goals, all within "striking distance of the goal. The Blue Devils led the match-up 18-0, at halftime.
However, it was on the first Eagle drive of the second half, that the Eagles scored on a long drive that ended with a seven point showing. With the "smell of success," the Eagles scored again during the early part of the fourth quarter, when Carter took the ball across the goal line, and Tellez handed the ball to him, and he made the two-point conversion. The Eagles trailed 18-15.

"The win was great!" exclaimed Head Coach Paul Tullis. "It was great to win Homecoming and it is great for the kids, that they can see that they can win, if they'll continue to work hard and pay attention to the fundamentals. Hopefully, this win will set a precedent and boost the team and our program!"
The Eagles will have an Open Friday night, September 14th, and then travel to Union Hill, for a long trip on the road, September 21st.
Congratulations, Como-Pickton Eagles,
On A Great Homecoming Victory!!!!
