Eighty-one students walked across the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Stage, on Friday night, representing the Class of 2008 from Como-Pickton High School. "Many of these students have gone to school together since beginning in kindergarten, thirteen years ago," expressed High School Principal, Jeanne Lay, as she began to call the names of the class.

Earlier a slide presentation had been presented, first showing the growth of each student, as it features a baby picture and then their senior pictures. Then, a group of photos that showed the many activities of their senior year was presented.

Como-Pickton 2008 Class Valedictorian, Rachel Nicole Cummings, makes her Valedictory address.

Class Valedictorian, Rachel Nicole Cummings, encouraged her fellow classmates to make the most of the opportunities that they are afforded in life and to reach for their highest goals.  Class member, Maryjo Cinnamon Sandate, sang the Carrie Underwood song, "Whenever You Remember."

Before diplomas were presented members of the Class of 2008 complete a popular segment of the program as they enterd the audience with roses and presented them to family members, teachers, and mentors, who had helped them along the way to high school graduation.

Then, newly elected school board president, Michael Mund, presented each student with their coveted diploma, as high school counselor, Patsy Evans called their name.

Dallas Browning gave the benediction and prayed that "none of my classmates will do anything foolish." "I don't want to be going to any funerals," he expressed.
