into National Honor Society, Thursday

Kevin Monk, 1988 Graduate of Como-Pickton High School and
former NHS member, who is now Senior Vice-President at Alliance
Bank, was the featured speaker at Thursday's ceremony.

Como-Pickton High School's Pearle Jordan Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted new members into the society in a traditional ceremony, on Thursday morning, at the school. The organiziation holds students to high grade standards, scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Kevin Monk, Senior Vice-President of Alliance Bank and a former member of the Como-Pickton Chapter of the National Honor Society, was the guest speaker for Thursday's ceremony. "I graduated from Como-Pickton High School in 1988," advised Monk. "But, my membership in National Honor Society held me accountable and should encourage each of you to remember that you are being watched by your peers, teacher, administrators, and the community, and that you represent your faith, your family, and your school, as well as yourself, in all that you do!"

"I'm happy to say that I'm able to work for an organization, Alliance Bank, that emphasizes the principals that I'm going to encourage you to adopt today," continued Monk. "You need to always put your faith first, your family next, and then add these other characteristics that are so vital to being a leader. Our world today is 'crying out' for leaders, in all walks of life, and if you get your priorities in order, the world is yours! It isn't always going to be easy, and doing the right thing may not always be popular, but it's your responsibility as a leader and a community model!"

Monk encouraged the members of the CPHS National Honor Society to become involved in all areas of the community, and to share their talents. He told them that as member of the human race, our purpose is to give to others, but as community and school leaders, there is even more of a responsibility to give back and help those less fortunate.
