It was a long road home, on Friday night, when the Como-Pickton Eagles traveled to Wood County and took on the Quitman Bulldogs. The Bulldogs were celebrating homecoming and brought a 5-1 record to the match-up, as well as a much larger and quicker team to the field, to hammer their 41-6 victory.

The Eagles were plagued with three turnovers in the game and the Bulldogs were equally eager to capitalize on those advantages and made the most of them on the scoreboard. The Quitman team out performed the Eagles with twice as many offensive yards during the match.

The lone score for the Eagles came in the second period of play, when Austin Darby managed to score on a three yard play. The two-point conversion was thwarted by the Bulldogs.

The Eagles will host Winnsboro at home on Friday night, in Ron Heflin Field, where they are sure to see a powerful team for the extreme rivalry between the two school. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
