Como-Pickton Stew and Auction
Benefits Vocational Programs

It was $100 pies, $125 cakes, and benches that brought over $600.00, as supporters of the vocational departments at Como-Pickton School, gathered in the school cafeteria, on Tuesday night for the Annual Stew and Auction. The proceeds will be used to sponsor trips, leadership activities, and special events for the students.

"With the 'cut backs' in education, we knew the kids needed it and we wanted to make certain that they had the funds to continue their programs," advised one of the buyers at Tuesday night's auction.

The evening began with all-you-could-eat stew, and featured both chicken and beef stew, with all the trimmings, cooked by parents and supporters.

The auction began at 7:00 p.m., and early figures revealed that the fundraiser had grossed close to $7,000.00 for the youth programs at the school!

"I couldn't be more pleased with the event and the support," allowed Michael Bowen, Vocational Department Head and FFA sponsor. "This will allow our programs to be adequately funded and allow the students to participate in the events that are so crucial to a well-rounded education. We certainly want to thank the community and the buyers for their help and support in this effort!"
