Cumby Trojans "Out Class"
A+ Academy With 40-0 Win,
Friday Night
by: Bobby McDonald
It was a 28 point first quarter and the fact that A+ Academy only managed one first down in the entire game, that left the Cumby Trojans with a "romp" on Friday night. The Trojans traveled to A+ Academy and left the stadium without allowing their opponent a chance to score.
With 8:53 remaining in the first quarter, junior B.T. Brown scampered across the goal line, with 6 points for the Trojans, in the first of score of an impressive quarter. The Trojans failed to convert on the two-point conversion, but with their next possession, quarterback Brixx Hawthorne, on a quarterback sneak, ran 37 yards for a touchdown and increased the score to twelve. The two-point conversion was thwarted by A+ Academy.

Then, with 3.56 showing on the clock in the first quarter, senior Kris Stanford returned a punt for 65 yards and six more points. Brixx Hawthone attempted the two-point conversion and gained another two points. The Trojans led, 20-0. But, the Trojans weren't through with their first quarter scoring effort. It was when Hawthorne handed the ball to senior offensive lineman, Michael Cross, that he ran into the end zone and scored six more Trojan points. Nathan Dunnihoo ran 8 yards on the two-point conversion, and the Trojans left the first quarter of play with a comfortable 28-0 lead.
During the second quarter, Dunnihoo ran 14 yards to add yet another six points to the scoreboard for Cumby, and the PAT was no good. Cumby had a 34-0 lead, when they went to the locker room for halftime.
Playing some of his substitutes, Coach Kent Hawthorne, coaxed the Trojans to score one more time during the third quarter, when Brixx Hawthorne completed a 38 yard touchdown pass to B.T. Brown, to add the final six points of the night to the 40-0 victory.

No scores were realized during the 4th quarter of play.
Cumby accumulated 17 first downs during the game and 256 yards, while A+ Academy only managed 1 first down and only six yards, on 21 plays. The Trojans accumulate 79 yards in the passing department with Brixx Hawthorne at the helm, while A+ Academy ended the night with 0 yards in the passing department.
