
Cumby Claims Victory Over
Alba-Golden In Season Opener

A touchdown in the later part of the second quarter and a 4th quarter touchdown and two-point conversion by the Cumby Trojans, was enough to spoil victory for Alba-Golden, when they came to town on Friday night. The Alba-Golden Panthers led the game until the fourth quarter rally by the Trojans, as they scored a three-point field goal near the end of the first quarter and managed a touchdown, extra-point, and a safety in the second quarter, to accumulate a 9-6 lead at halftime.

It was the fourth quarter touchdown from seven yards out, by Nathan Dunnihoo, with 6:52 remaining in the game, and the two-point conversion by Dunnihoo, that sealed the victory for the Trojans.

Dunnihoo had 76 yards of rushing, to lead the Trojans, while Jake Vann accumulated 19 yards, and quarterback, Brixx Hawthorne "racked-up" 54 yards rushing and the first T.D. of the night. Rodney Hobbs had 22 yards rushing to his credit, on Friday night.

In the passing game, it was Senior Kris Stafford who led the Trojans, with 57 yards on 4 receptions. Timmy Crook managed 29 passing yards and Nathan Dunnihoo added 23 more yards in the passing game. Michael Morris added his own 15 yards.
The Trojans had 17 first downs in the Friday night match-up, and Alba-Golden managed 12 first downs. Hawthorne completed 8 0f his 26 attempts at passing for a total of 124 yards, but had two interceptions in the game.

The Trojans will host Rockwall Christian Academy in Cumby, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, September 7th, as they continue their season.
