It was a road trip into neighboring Lamar County, for the Cumby Trojans, on Friday night, as they "took-on" the Eagles in the third game of the season. The Trojans brought their 1-1 record to the scrimmage line and found the weaknesses of the Detroit Eagles. Coach Kent Hawthorne's Trojans developed a running game that found 476 total yard of offense, with 325 of those yards devoted to the running game.
Senior Nathan Dunihoo ran 58 yards for the first quarter score for the Trojans. Jake Vann attempted a two-point conversion, but was stopped short. The Trojans led the match-up 6-0, at the end of the first period.

Quarterback Brixx Hawthorne found senior Kris Stanford, on a 14 yard pass and scored the second t.d. of the game, early in the second quarter. Stanford lead the charge with a three yard reception from Hawthorne and added two more points to the scoreboard.
Detroit managed a 56 yard pass, during the second period, to score half of their 12 points. However, their two point conversion was foiled by the Trojans.
Cumby had a comfortable 28-6 lead, as they went to the lockerroom at halftime.

But, the Trojans weren't through with the Eagles as they returned from halftime. They answered the call and Dunnihoo run 4 yards for another Trojan touchdown and Vann ran into the end zone for the two-point conversion.

Detroit scored their only points in the second half, during the third period, as completed a 63 yard touchdown and experienced another failed two-point conversion.
Late in the third period, Brixx Hawthorne connected for 58 yards with Dunnihoo and a touchdown to cushion the Trojan lead. Jake Vann led the charge into the end zone with another two point conversion.

Finally, in the fourth quarter with 10:32 left to play in the game, Jake Vann ran 20 yards for yet another Trojan touchdown. Dustin Clem kicked the extra point, and the Trojans extended their lead to 51-12.
Nathan Dunnihoo has 17 carries for 148 yards and two touchdowns and Jake Vann had 7 carries for 34 yards, two two-point conversions, and a touchdown. Quarterback Brixx Hawthorne added 107 running yards to the Trojan effort, on 15 carries. Other contributors in the running game included Rodney Hobbs, Petter Hassel, Ryan Vaughn, and C.J. Ringinburg.

Hawthorne was 7 of 17 in the passing game, for a total of 151 yards. Kris Stanford has 3 receptions for a total of 50 yards and Jake Vann had 30 yards on his single reception. Nathan Dunnihoo added 65 yards with two receptions and Rodney Hobbs added another 6 yard carry to the Trojan game.
