New Cumby Vocational Agriculture Teacher, Grant Crowell, introduced himself to parents
and the community, at Tuesday night's cook-out.

Newly elected Cumby FFA Officers include, back row, Colton Speights, Vice-President,
Hayden Jacobs, Treasurer, Arsenio Ugalde, Reporter, D.J. Lackey, Sentinel, and
Stetson Speights, President. Front row is Courtney Salinas, Secretary, and new
Cumby vocational agriculture teacher, Grant Crowell.

Parents, students, and community members in Cumby attended a Cumby FFA Booster Club sponsored hamburger cook-out and fellowship, on Tuesday night, in the high school vocational agriculture building, as they were introduced to new Cumby FFA instructor, Grant Crowell. Crowell is no stranger to FFA and teaching vocational agriculture, as he has previously taught 18 years in the Fannindel School System. "I want to introduce myself to you parents and let you know who I am and that I'm available to purchase projects and help you in deciding the type projects your children may want to have for vocational agriculture," expressed Crowell.

Students and parents met with new vocational agriculture teacher, Grant Crowell, and
discussed projects for the upcoming school year.

"As you know, we have the major shows coming up and the Hopkins County NETLA Show, that will be in February, and we all need to be thinking about the projects for these shows," continued Crowell. "We plan to show this year at Texarkana, Ft. Worth, San Antonio, and Houston, for the major shows, and then attend some of the local shows in neighboring cities and towns."

The "hamburger line" seemed to be a popular place for these guys......

"Some of the students have indicated interest in breeding animal projects, while others may want to show just market animals," related Crowell. "We need to 'get together' and discuss the type project that your child needs for a successful learning experience!"

Hamburgers and all the trimmings were served by the FFA Booster Club.

Tuesday night's meeting was adjourned and everyone enjoyed hamburgers and all the trimmings, provided by the FFA Booster Club, and parents and students were able to visit with Mr. Crowell about the type projects they wanted to participate in. Like all area schools, it is the beginning of a school year in Cumby, with many students wishing to purchase beef or dairy breeding heifers, or interested in showing market lambs, market hogs, or market broilers, at the county show.

And, here's proof that the burgers were "mighty good"......

"As little as you think about it, it won't be too long before students need to be building pens and facilities for those market show projects, for the county show," expressed Crowell. "With school starting and all the many activities, it's time to get busy and working on facilities and purchasing projects!"

And, thanks was extended to the meembers of the Cumby FFA Booster Club, for cooking all the burgers in
Tuesday night's heat!!!
