Cumby FFA Member Looking Forward
to NETLA Youth Market Show
by: Bobby McDonald
It's been a long process, but an enjoyable one for Cumby FFA member, Cheyenne Gray, and her Market Show Steer, Deuce. "We began back in the spring when I purchased Deuce and we've become quite 'attached' with me working with him every day!" explains Cheyenne. "He has to be fed, exercised, and groomed, to get ready for the upcoming NETLA Market Show!"
"Lately, with the recent rains, it's been quite muddy in his pen, as he's in the pen with my two heifers for Ft. Worth and Houston and the three of them can make a real mess, in this weather," continued Cheyenne. "But, that's just part of working with livestock!"

When asked if her attachment to Deuce would cause her to have second thoughts about him being sold in the Sale of Champions, if he makes the sale, Cheyenne was quick to say, "NO!"
"That's his purpose in life and although I think alot of him, all the hard work has been to get him ready for the show, that is just about a month out!" advised Cheyenne. "This is what I got him for, to do well in the NETLA Show!"
Cheyenne says she'll use the money from Deuce to fund future livestock projects in her work at Cumby High School and try to put some of it back for her college education. "It takes a lot of feed and supplies, to raise a steer project, and then you have you initial investment, that can be quite high, if you get a good steer!"

Look for Cheyenne and Deuce in the Winner's Circle, at the NETLA Youth Market Show, February 21-23, in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center!
And, if you want to buy some raffle tickets, Cheyenne just happens to have some she'd like to sell you!!!
