Donates to Fire Department

It was a joyous occasion on Thursday morning, in Cumby, as members of the Cumby Elementary National Honor Society presented Cumby Fire Chief, Monty Lackey, with a $980.00 check. The students had worked at hosting a dinner, working booths at the school, and presenting a skit to raise the funds, as their community service project for this year.

Students said they saw the many, many ways that the Cumby Fire Department helped the community and wanted them to be the beneficiary of their project. Accepting the money on behalf of the fire department with Lackey was Ricky Denton, one of the volunteer firemen for the Cumby Department.

Lacky told the students that the money would be used for department expenses and to help with upkeep of the fire equipment, so that they could continue to serve the Cumby community!
