The Cumby Trojans saw a one-point lead fall before their eyes in the fourth quarter, as they hosted Rockwall Christian Academy, on Friday night, in Cumby. Having led most of the game, the Trojan Defense lost the battle as Rockwall's Clatyon Jones completed a 33 yard pass to reciever Austin Daugherty, late in the last quarter and then made the two-point conversion with a three yard run by Jones. Rockwall Christian won the match-up 23-16.
Neither Rockwall nor Cumby scored during the first quarter of play. Then, during the second period the Trojans' Nathan Dunnihoo made a one-yard scamper into the end zone, for the first points on the scoreboard. Dunnihoo took the ball and made the two-point conversion and Cumby led 8-0.
Rockwall Christian Academy took the ball back for a 65 your kickoff return and scored. The PAT by Ruiz was good and Rockwall was back in the game, trailing by only one point.
Then, Clayton Jones connected late in the second quarter, on a 57 yard pass to Elijah Ruiz for Rockwall Christian to score six more points. Attempting to make up for the one-point the Trojans had earlier gained, Rockwall went for the two-point conversion, and made the attempt, as Jones connected with Jordan Ogle for the two points. Rockwall Christian led, 15-8.

However, the Trojans led by quarterback Brixx Hawthorne marched down the field and soon Hawthorne connected with Dunnihoo for a 54 yard pass, that brought the score within a one point difference. On a Hawthorne handoff to Jake Vann, the Trojans moved into the lead, with a 16-15 score, and retired to the lockerroom for halftime.

Returning to the field, following halftime, neither team scored during the third period. Then, late in the fourth period, Jones made the connection to Daugherty and won the match-up.
