Trojans Fall to Alba-Golden
In Season Opener
by: Bobby McDonald
Friday night the Cumby Trojans hosted the Alba-Golden Panthers in the season opener, in front of a large crowd of hometown and opposing team fans. Following the installation of new lighting for the stadium, I drove into Cumby and could see the stadium light from 5 miles away. However, at the beginning of the second half, it was almost a repeat of some of the same problems as last year, when the lights "flickered," dimmed, and then went out, on the visitors side. The Trojans and Panthers played the second half of the game in semi-darkness.
And, the score for the Trojans seemed to be similar. The Panthers led, 13-0 at halftime intermission, and remained in "striking" distance of the Panthers, throughout the first half. But, when the Panthers made another unanswered touchdown and extra-point in the third quarter, hopes of "catching" the Panthers, seemed to fade for the Trojans. Then, Alba-Golden added another TD during the fourth period and managed to hold the Trojans scoreless.
