In a special school assembly, on Friday morning, Cumby ISD conducted their annual tribute to community veterans, in honor of Veteran's Day. The school invited all veterans and active military in the community, to school and honored them with a "roll call" and presentation of the flags, as well as patriotic music and a slide show.
"It's our way of showing our deep appreciation for the service that these men and women have devoted to preserving our freedoms," expressed the organizers of Friday's program. "We want our students to be aware of the many, many sacrifices that our men and women in the armed forces make for us each day, and why we hold the veterans in the highest esteem for their sacrificing service to our country!"
"Many times we fail to realize just what our men and women endure to preserve our freedoms," continued the organizers. "This just gives us the opportunity to set a time aside to make certain that we all reflect on the freedoms that we enjoy in this country, and it is all because we have had men and women who gave of themselves to make certain that we continue to be free!"
