Cumby Trojans "Kicked" By Overton Mustangs
In Hard-Fought Overtime Thriller

by: Bobby McDonald

Stats from Coach James Johnson

It was one of the most intense and hard-fought football games of the season, in Cumby, on Friday night, as they hosted the Overton Mustangs, in a game that was tied 14-14 at the end of regular play and went into overtime. And, it was just as intense in overtime with the "cards" falling in favor of the Mustangs, as the game ended in a 20-14 victory for Overton.

A field goal attempt by Charlie Potts, in the final seconds of the regular play, missed by inches, that would have clinched the game for the Trojans, and another "near-miss" in overtime veered to the left by inches, in overtime, ruining Cumby's chances of claiming victory. As the announcer said from the pressbox, anybody at Friday night's game "certainly got their admissions worth" at Friday night's game, as it was "on the edge of your seat football!"

Congratulations to both Cumby and Overton for playing one of the best games of the season!
