Stowater and Andrews Take Top
Honors in 2012 Dairy Classic Show

by: Bobby McDonald

It was a large class of dairy heifers that was placed in Saturday's 2012 Dairy Classic Show
in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Arena.

Local youth began working with their heifers last fall and the "fruits" of their labors were on display in the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, Saturday morning, as they paraded their animals before noted Dairyman and Cattle Judge, Leo Hoff, Jr., of Windthorst, Texas, hoping to gain the top spots for Thursday's sale. The Hopkins County Dairy Classic Show had attracted almost twenty head of animals, this year, and the competition was keen.

In the final judging, it was Ben Stowater's Holstein heifer that was chosen Grand Champion by Hoff and the Holstein heifer exhibited by Brynden Andrews was chosen for the Reserve Champion honors. These two heifers will be the first two animals in the sale ring, on Thursday, June 21st, at 1:00 p.m., at the Sulphur Springs Livestock and Dairy Auction. Prior to Thursday's sale, a Buyers Preview will be hosted at the Livestock Commission, beneath the tent, and a Buyers Luncheon will be hosted at noon. "We hope that local businesses and individuals will come out and see the hard work these kids have completed and the results of their labor," advised organizers of the Dairy Classic. "We'll have 19 youth that will be selling their heifers in this year's Classic Sale!"

Make you plans to attend and support Hopkins County youth, as they sell their projects and use the money to further their projects and to save for their future educations!
