The monies from ticket sales help to continue the Dairy Festival, which honors the dairy farmers of Hopkins County. Dairy Festival supports future dairy farmers at the Northeast Texas Junior Dairy Show held on Sat., June 16 at 10:00 am in the Civic Center Arena. Contact Amy Bowen: 903.335.3061. We also support them by providing add-on money for dairy heifers sold at The Junior Dairy Classic Sale on June 21 at Sulphur Springs Dairy Auction. Sponsorships are part of providing the scholarship awards for the contestants. Dairy Festival is a 5013C Non-Profit Organization. Look for these young ladies riding in the parade on their personally decorated mini-trailers, which their family and friends will help them design and construct. These contestant floats are always a delightful part of the parade, on Sat. June 9, leaving Buford Park at 10 am. David Watson is the contact: 903.439.5020. Also anticipated in the parade are the Little Kids, this year named “Cow –A- Bunga Cuties ”, riding in their decorated “mini-floats” (golf carts) These are always creative and colorful, designed and constructed by their proud parents! If you are interested in having your child (age 3 – 5) being a “Little Kid” in the parade and in the pageant, please call Gena Prickette: 903.243.4534, or Missy Caddell: 903.885.4053. Any organization, group, or commercial entity is encouraged to enter a mobile unit; just call David Watson! Leading our fabulous parade is this year’s Parade Marshal: Bill Zahn, and his family! Congratulations, Bill!

This will be the 2nd annual Dairymen’s Appreciation Reception held on Fri. June 8, during the Hot Air Balloon Rally on Shannon Oaks Church grounds. The Hopkins County dairymen will be treated to dairy foods, prizes and gifts, and a chance to win a ride in one of the Hot Air Balloons. Invitations for the Reception will be going out soon; if you are a dairyman in Hopkins County and would like to be part of this “meet and greet”, please call Pat Chase: 903.348.1971, or Frannie Miller :903.348.8706. One lucky attending dairyman’s name will be drawn for a balloon ride!
There will be three days of Hot Air Balloon activity; including Fri. June 8th and Sat. June 9th morning and evening flights, plus Sun. June 10th morning flight; all based at Shannon Oaks Church. Just one of the many fun events planned is a “golf ball drop” from a flying hot air balloon, sponsored by the DARE group. The pilots and the Board also appreciate the support from and use of facilities from Southwest Dairy Museum during many of our events and meetings throughout the year. Look for more detailed information on all events as June draws near. All Dairy Fest events are free, except for the carnival and the pageant.
See you in June! Hopkins County Dairy Festival Board of Directors
