“A Brand New Season!”

Udderances  September 2012 From Hopkins County Dairy Festival Board

Patricia Chase, Reporter

We had a very successful Dairy Festival last June and we are looking forward to another great Dairy Festival beginning Friday, June 7, 2013 with the Hot Air Balloon Media Flight and ending Saturday, June 15, 2013 with the coronation pageant.  Dr. David Black, outgoing President of the Board, handed over the gavel to incoming President, David Watson.  He did a great job with the 2012 Parade – featuring past Dairy Festival Queens, candidates’ and little kids’ floats, among over 120 entries.  So, if you want to know anything about this year’s Festival, just contact David Watson!  We are looking to increase our sponsorships, community involvement, and media information.  You just might be contacted for physical and financial contributions, so be ready to be involved!  We always are in need of crew to help launch and land those beautiful balloons, so if interested, contact Dr. David Black or Pam Black.

Out 2012 Queen, Miss Molly Millsap, has many ideas for her reign – especially those that can bring positive awareness to the youth in the county.  You probably know her as “Wally the Wildcat”, and she plans to use that platform to reach younger students regarding peer pressure and confident self-image, including the nutrition that milk can be for young minds and bodies.  We think it’s a great idea and will allow our Dairy Queen to bring attention to our Dairy Festival, also!

“Teaser Alert”:  The Board has already chosen the 2013 theme and has voted on the Parade Marshal for the June 8 Parade!  We won’t give it all away just yet; but look for that exciting information soon.

Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all the sponsors, donors, volunteers, and participants – especially the contestants and the Little Kids that contribute each year.  We really couldn’t do it without you!  Nor would we want to – this community really supports all county events, and we are all fortunate to be a part of Hopkins County and its various activities.  Keep up the good work, and look for more information as time goes on!
