Northeast Texas Dairy Show
Names Winners

 

 

Saturday, June 20, 2009, marked an "age old" tradition in Hopkins County, the bringing of top quality dairy cattle to town to be evaluated and paraded before a crowd. The very first dairy show, according to records, was hosted in Buford Park, in 1937. The show was conducted in an open air venue and prizes from local business owners were given to the winners.

Well, not a lot has changed in the past 72 years, as Saturday morning's conduction of the Northeast Texas Dairy Show had many similarities. Local dairy exhibitors brought their animals to town and paraded them before a qualified judge, and prizes donated by local businesses were awarded to the exhibitors.
