Meets Monday Night
by: Bobby McDonald
The Sulphur Springs Downtown Business Alliance met on Monday night for their final meeting of the 2012 year, as they discussed upcoming events and celebrate a successful year. Highlight of the meeting was the success of downtown Tree Lighting, the Snowslide, and other activities that were attended by a huge crowd. "People continue to come to our beautiful downtown area, to take pictures, shop, and enjoy the atmosphere," expressed DBA President John Reed. "The castle, that had to be moved because of the restructure of the square, looks beautiful, in the new location! But, we're going to have to have a 'taking down' party, once the Christmas season is over!"
Members were pleased with the Christmas parade and with the use of their trolley for major events in the downtown area, that aids in moving people from one attraction to another. The canopy to house the trolley is complete and functional now.
Shane Shepard updated the group on some other projects that underway for 2013 and requested their assistance and support in the projects. He also denoted a rise in City Sales Tax Revenue because of several events and the opening of several new businesses in town.
"We've truly been blessed in Sulphur Springs, this year!" denoted Reed, as he adjourned the meeting and encouraged members to look forward to 2013.
